If you want to see what is wrong with nerd culture, and specifically the enormous privilege enjoyed and expected by its male population, read this thread, or even just the first post (as it has gotten quite long now).  But if you’re not interested in throwing up in your mouth a little, maybe don’t read it.

I wonder when if cis men will ever get it through their heads that if they stopped treating women (and every other minority) like sub-human pieces of crap that they would realize that we’re not actually any different and maybe we could all just get along and they wouldn’t need their little fucking Boy’s Club anymore?

WHAT THE FUCK. YOU CAN HANG OUT EVERYWHERE …  And since when do we ever get any decent representation in video games unless it’s to titillate your privileged asses? I can’t even respond to the work camps bit. I could barely scroll down the first page. God, crawl back into your primordial soup. You’re clearly not done yet.

I’m gonna go off topic,

I don’t agree with the general message of the post on sex/gender, but quite a few people who have posted on those forums made a valid point; female characters that are represented with great physical strength/endurance/prowess are almost always portrayed with a physique that suggests otherwise.

It’s not even an argument about males/females, it’s realistic portrayal vs idealized beauty. There’s no way in hell the blonde-doctor-chick from Gears of War 3 can carry/handle that retarded chainsaw-rifle with her little peg limbs, she would’ve had to be built like a gorilla, like all the steroid-pumped Male leads. But then oh noes, she wouldn’t be super-model-hot! We can’t have that!

Don’t even get me started on silly characters like Bayonetta, every JRPG female “warrior”, pretty much every female fighting-game character etc. 

It’s annoying really, media/entertainment pretends to believe in female empowerment by physically endowing characters with traditional senses of beauty, innocence or sexual appeal, but are then made completely fake by having them perform feats of complete impracticality relative to those endowments.

If anyone should be pissed or feel bad, it’s masculine looking women who can actually do all those things but are shunned by society for their looks. 

PS. I’m not saying all games have to be super-realistic, just saying the ones that obviously are shouldn’t break physics for the sake of having sexy/hot/cute women.

PPS. Again it’s not really a sex/gender thing, I could have made the same argument about a scrawny pretty boy like Cloud wielding his Buster sword, if FF7 ran on real-life physics.
