My reasoning was not my point;

“I’m just saying, if a Male character was killed off brutally in the same manner in a comic book then or tomorrow I doubt it would warrant the same kind of outcry. Dudes all over the world going “OH GOD, WHY ARE THEY DE-MASCULINATING US?! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!” would be seen as silly; yet somehow this isn’t. Hmm.”

The problem is that the whole concept sounds like three things. First, you’re arguing for equal victimization , which is either twisted or questionable at best. Would you actually enjoy seeing an influx of male characters beaten/raped for a female’s progression as a character? If your answer is yes then the entire movement can be seen as based on the jealousy/spite of the “Male” association with power and strength. “GRR! DAMN OUR CULTURAL VIEWS OF GENDER ROLES!”

Or it sounds like you’re voicing for No brutality/victimization. Which is silly because you’ll be arguing to regress entertainment/media to wholesome, family-friendly censorship across the board.

The inherent problem isn’t in comics, or the media for that matter. It’s the fact that brutality/rape etc. occurs more often to woman than men in real life, (or at least it’s reported as such) this makes it a more likely/viable plot option in today’s world where “good” storytelling is all about drawing realistic parallels to fiction.

It’s like saying, “Damn, I hate gravity!” or me saying “Damn, I hate how the worth of fine arts is based on an arbitrary hierarchy and social connections!”
